Our victory over one another is what will make our victory over polio endure. Because of what you have done, and what we will continue to do until this disease is defeated, is to come together like a family. Do what you do best, lift each other up”

About CfPPR Founder
Dr. Sunita Dodani, a physician & founder of CfPPR, contracted polio at the age of two. Though born in Pakistan, she was very fortunate to be raised in an enriched environment and her parents were able to provide her with the best polio rehabilitation care soon after polio attack. Initially her all four limbs were involved, and for the first few years she crawled or needed to be carried. However because of her parent’s continuous support, commitment and hard work in providing best rehabilitation services, she slowly started to walk and now she walks independently with a use of surgical brace for her right leg. Her parents give her best education, made her a physician and an independent human being helping thousands and thousands of people who are in need of medical health. Being raised and brought up in polio endemic developing countries, she became acutely aware of the disparity in health care services for polio survivors in South Asia, esp. for women. In 2008; after overcoming many initial hurdles and disappointments, a diverse group of humanitarians, researchers, information technologists and healthcare professionals who had worked with polio survivors, joined hands with Dr. Dodani to help establish the Center for Post-Polio Rehabilitation-CfPPR.
